Neuromodulator/Neurotoxin Injections (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin)
These injections are often considered the back-bone of all aesthetic procedures. Injecting small amounts of the neurotoxin into specific facial muscles causes a partial paralysis of those muscles, which means that they can’t contract as strongly and cause wrinkles. If a patient starts using the treatment early enough in their life, many wrinkles can be prevented. Even later in life, it can help smooth out lines and wrinkles and help prevent them from getting worse. While some patients want all of their facial expression muscles to be treated this can lead to a “frozen” facial look, while using less still allows for normal expressiveness.
All three products are made from the toxin produced by the bacterium clostridium botulinum – the same one that causes Botulism! There are only slight differences between them all. At Optimal Health Spectrums, we prefer to use Dysport, because it acts faster (starts within 3-5 days) and lasts a little longer (4+ months) than the others. Dysport also spreads a little farther in your skin (about 1 cm for Botox and 1-2 cm for Dysport) and has less protein in it that could cause allergic reactions in some.
Consider these injections as preventive medicine for wrinkles later in life and start getting your Dysport treatments done with us at Optimal Health Spectrums!
