Micro-Needling is safe for all skin types and is used to treat and improve conditions like acne and surgical scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, loose skin, skin texture, pore size, brown spots and other pigment issues, and reducing the appearance of stretch marks.
Micro-Needling involves creates tiny micro-channels in the skin, stimulating the production of new, healthy collagen. These perforations quickly close within an hour. Redness on the skin usually fades after 12-48 hours. The use of topical PRP (platelet-rich plasma) prior to the procedure helps speed up the healing process and enhances the results.
The healing process will depend mainly on the intensity of the procedure and one’s skin type. For an aggressive treatment, the skin may show mild bleeding, and the healing process might take a bit longer. Still, most people heal within the 48-hour time frame.
It is recommended that you start with a minimum of three treatments, 4-6 weeks apart. For scar and stretch mark minimization, it is recommended that you have up to six treatments. These estimates may vary, however, dependent on the extent of damage and the individual’s response to treatment.
Micro-Needling results can typically start within a few days. However, it takes several months for the full effect of beautiful skin to be seen.
PRP (Platelet-rich plasma) is a medical procedure that can be used with Micro-Needling to enhance collagen production even more. Some have called this a “Vampire” procedure because it involves using your blood, and the mythology is that vampires live forever while PRP makes you look more youthful.
To produce PRP, first we draw blood from the patient into a special tube and centrifuge it in a specific way to extract the platelet-rich plasma that contains important growth and healing factors produced in your blood. The PRP is then spread over the surface of the face and the Micro-Needling is done on top of it. This way, the needles push the healing and rejuvenating PRP into the skin, producing even more dramatic results – from on top of the skin and from within.
