Frequently Asked HCG Questions

How can I prepare for my first visit?

After you have read the appropriate information about the HCG diet on our website and have requested your new patient appointment by calling the office, we will contact you to set up your appointment, collect a deposit, and send you a ChARM invitation via email to fill out your new patient forms.

How much weight can I expect to lose on this diet?

Although individual results will vary, the average female loses between 12-20 pounds per month, and the average male loses between 15-25 pounds per month on this diet. At first, it is often a pound per day.

Will HCG injections affect my blood pressure?

The weight loss may cause a decrease in blood pressure. Blood pressure medication dose may need to be adjusted accordingly. Be sure to discuss this matter with our providers and your primary care physician.

Who should not take HCG?

You should not take HCG if you have cancer, large fibroids, cysts on your ovaries, a pre-existing gallbladder problem, an unmanaged thyroid condition, or are nursing or pregnant.

Does HCG affect cholesterol and blood sugar levels?

Most patient’s cholesterol and blood sugar levels decrease and improve.

Do I have to eat high-fat foods the first two days and why?

It takes approximately two-three days for the HCG to take effect and begin circulating your abnormal fat stores. “Fat loading” for the first two-three days help to prevent hunger after the calorie restriction starts.

What foods are recommended during the two-three days of loading fats?

Whole milk dairy products, eggs, nuts, oils, avocados, and other high-fat foods.

Will I be hungry?

Even though the diet is very low calorie, the HCG hormone helps to suppress appetite, and when you start rapidly burning fat, that also suppresses appetite. Because the HCG diet causes a release of abnormal fat stores from your body for energy, most people do not feel hungry on this diet.

Does the weight loss plateau after the first month?

Weight loss is usually greatest in the first month and then slows down, but does not stop. It is common to see inches being lost continuously.

Will the weight come back after I am finished with the HCG Diet program?

The HCG Program must be followed correctly until you attain your goal weight. After the program is completed, a post-diet low carb maintenance phase should be followed for the first three weeks. After that, you will have a smaller appetite, more energy, and healthier lifestyle so most people do not regain the weight. If someone goes back to poor eating habits, they will regain weight after any diet.

Do I have to exercise on this diet?

Only mild walking and resistance training is allowed during the diet, but you do not have to do it. When the diet is completed, then you will want to return to some form of exercise, to tone your muscles and maintain your health.

What is the hypothalamus?

The hypothalamus links the nervous system to the endocrine system, which regulates your hormones. It is responsible for certain metabolic processes including fat storage, hunger and thirst. It is hypothesized that HCG “resets” the hypothalamus to maintain weight loss.

Are HCG injections painful?

The needle used for HCG is the same tiny needle used for insulin and is relatively painless. Our patients quickly become used to giving themselves this tiny shot every day, or a family member can do it.

What sweeteners are allowed on the diet?

STEVIA is the only approved sweetener on the HCG diet.

PLEASE NOTE: HCG is not yet FDA approved for weight loss. This is a legal “off-label” use of the hormone for weight loss based on our years of personal and clinical experience, and the collective clinical experience of many hundreds of doctors and thousands of patients worldwide over many decades.
