Even with diet and exercise, many of us still have pockets of fat on our bodies that we would like to get rid of. To get rid of those targeted pockets, often one would have to calorie restrict and/or exercise to an unreasonable and unsustainable degree. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could just melt that fat away?  Let’s face it – we all want to look good and still be able to enjoy life!

SculpSure is the hottest (pun intended) new technology for fat loss and body contouring in the aesthetic industry! CoolSculpt was the first product to provide a non-surgical option for targeted fat loss and has been around for about 10 years. SculpSure is the new kid on the block, and in my opinion is a significant improvement over the older technology. Both devices are for body contouring and not weight loss.

These two treatments are the only two real alternatives to surgery, which has significant risk, downtime for recovery, cost, and pain involved. For example, there is a tragic case of a mom with young kids who died from complications of a seemingly simple liposuction procedure.

When we were investigating the technology of body contouring, it became clear to me that SculpSure has many advantages over CoolSculpt, and in my opinion, there is no contest as to which one is the superior product.

SculpSure does not painfully suck your fat into a vacuum or freeze the entire area, like CoolSculpt does. The SculpSure laser heads sit on top of the skin and “cook” the fat cells underneath the skin, while keeping the skin itself cool – an amazing technological feat. There are many areas of the body that cannot be sucked into the CoolSculpt device.  The SculpSure laser heads can be customized to fit almost any body area and any body type. This flexibility is a huge advantage when you are trying to get customized results.

SculpSure does not cause significant bruising and redness, or even potentially loss of sensation from nerve damage the way CoolSculpt can.  There are some pretty horrific photos online of what CoolSculpt can do to you.  CoolSculpt can cause un-natural looking results – sometimes called “shark bites” -  looking like a divot or concave area on your body. But SculpSure gives very natural looking results, as the heat from the laser “feathers” out from the treatment area, so that the results are smooth and seamless. Some even see some smoothing and tightening of the skin in the area with SculpSure!

When the brief, 25 minute SculpSure treatment is over, the patient can get up and go do anything they normally would, right away.  There can be some mild soreness in the treated area for the next several days, that many people liken to how it feels if you did a bunch of sit-ups.  Remember, there have to be some sensations in the body from a treatment or it likely isn’t doing anything!

The FDA approved research shows that SculpSure actually destroys more fat per treatment than CoolSculpt on average, and does it in less time. After SculpSure destroys those fat cells, they are permanently gone and are eliminated by the body over the next 6-12 weeks. Those fat cells are permanently destroyed, and your body will never make new fat cells in that area. However, it is always possible for remaining fat cells in the area to get bigger and fill in there if you over-indulge.

Side-effects from SculpSure are very minimal, and there is almost no post-treatment care other than drinking water to help your body detox, which you should be doing anyway. Remember, toxins are stored in fat! Massaging the area afterwards is recommended to help enhance circulation and fat removal, but it is not essential.

SculpSure can be done every 4-6 weeks on a given body area until the desired results are achieved. Research shows that between 13-26% of the fat in the treatment area is destroyed each time.  During treatment, the patient will feel alternating sensations of deep heating and cooling, and a staff member is with you the entire time to make sure that you are comfortable.

We can debate about the merits of cosmetic procedures, but the reality is, right or wrong, how you look has a big effect on how you feel about yourself and how others perceive you. Give yourself the gift of SculpSure for a better-looking body!
