IV and Nutrient Therapy
Optimal Health Spectrums provides nutrient therapies by both infusion and injection. I.V. nutrient therapy is the infusion of vital nutrients such as vitamins and minerals directly into the bloodstream. This bypasses the sometimes faulty digestive system and allows for maximal concentrations of nutrients to reach the cells and tissues where they are needed the most. Nutrient therapy is a fast and efficient way to replenish vitamins and minerals and revitalize the immune system.
IV nutrient therapy is beneficial for many conditions including but not limited to gastrointestinal disorders, Fibromyalgia, cancer, viral infections, chronic infections such as Lyme, neurological disorders, asthma, wound healing, and immune dysfunction.
IV nutrients can help to prevent or recover from any illness, such as the flu. It is also a very useful procedure to do pre and post any surgery, to enhance and speed healing. For anyone with gastrointestinal illness that affects digestion or absorption of food, such as Crohn’s Disease, regular nutrient IV’s can cause a dramatic improvement in health.
People with vitamin and mineral deficiencies suffer internally with issues such as fatigue and decreased immune function. They can also be afflicted externally with skin issues such as excema, acne, uneven tone, and dull, flaky skin or hair loss.
We offer a large variety of nutrient infusions, ranging from vitamins A, D, C, and E, as well as the B vitamins and folinic acid. We also offer IV infusions of several important minerals, including magnesium, zinc and selenium. In addition, we administer IV phosphatidylcholine (which is an essential component of all cell membranes) and IV glutathione (the master antioxidant and most important detox agent in the human body).
In addition to IV therapies, Optimal Health Spectrums also offers essential nutrients such as Vitamin B12 and D by injection. These injections take only a couple of minutes. Infusions typically take 30-60 minutes. Our competent and caring staff are proficient in all infusion and injection therapies.
Vitamin B12 Injections:
Vitamin B12 (cobalamin) is an essential water-soluble vitamin that the body uses to maintain healthy nerve cells, produce RNA, DNA and red blood cells and help iron to function properly. B12 also works with folate to produce the amino acid SAMe which controls mood and supports immune function. B12 injections have many benefits, and are often prescribed for deficiencies that cause fatigue, shortness of breath, diarrhea, numbness and neurological damage.
Absorption and Availability
A vitamin B12 deficiency can result from a lack of intrinsic factor, a substance needed to absorb B12. Almost all patients on acid blockers have difficulty absorbing B12, and many people over the age of 50 also have declining ability to absorb it. One of the benefits of B12 injections over oral supplements is its immediate availability to the body. Injections that go directly into the blood stream bypass absorption barriers according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and can help people with malabsorption issues like those who have intestinal disorders or have undergone intestinal surgeries. Also, vegetarians are often deficient in vitamin B12 and patients with common methylation genetic mutations such as MTHFR may need extra B12.
Vitamin D Injections:
Vitamin D is collected mainly through the skin’s exposure to sunlight. Minimal levels can come from eating animal products. The darker one’s skin is, the harder it is to get adequate levels of Vitamin D from the sun. Almost all children and adults in this country are deficient in this critical nutrient. It regulates the activity of other cells in the body, helps the immune system prevent infections like colds and flus, helps prevent many kinds of cancer, maintains strong bones and develops the nervous system. A deficiency of vitamin D has been attributed to a wide range of ailments such as hypertension, heart disease, chronic pain, depression, and even autism. Most people are drastically underdosing themselves on vitamin D, to the detriment of their health. An injection is a great way to bring your level up in a hurry.
